This is a project I did for an Adobe Illustrator class. The assignment was to pick a piece of classic art and reproduce it in Illustrator. I chose "Behind the Great Wave at Kanagawa" created by Katsushika Hokusai in the mid-1820's.
This piece is also sometimes referred to as "Tsunami," even though some argue that these waves are okinami (off-shore waves).
It took me about 8 hours to complete, and the only tools I used were the pen tool (for all the linework) and the circle tool (for all the bubbles). Oh yeah and live paint if you consider that a tool
